Virgilio Carseta Param

Post by Board Admin »

Cold War Submarine Veteran, Virgilio Carseta Param GOOSE CREEK - Virgilio "Ver" Carseta Param, 80, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed peacefully at his native home in Imus, Cavite, Philippines, on August 30, 2022. Ver was born in Cavite City, Philippines, on July 23, 1942. He was the son of (the late) Antonio and Rosenda Param and the second eldest of seven children. Ver was first and foremost a dutiful son. Born to a very underprivileged family in the Philippines, Ver sacrificed his young adult years to join the United States Navy in October 1963. He undertook a journey in an unchartered part of the world in hopes of building a better life for them, his future family and ancestors. Often maltreated, he rose above discrimination to the ranks of Chief Petty Officer, E-7, as a Storekeeper Chief serving primarily on submarines. While excelling in his career, he remained faithful to his family in the Philippines, sending money and supporting his parents and six siblings with a new house, money to sustain themselves and college tuition. He accomplished this all the while providing for his own family of six which he began after meeting his would-be wife, Josefina Yuson. Ver never wavered in his fight for a better life for his family in the Philippines. After obtaining US citizenship, he successfully emigrated his parents, Ricardo, Ligaya, Andres, Oscar, and Abelardo to the US. These pivotal actions enabled his siblings the opportunity to grow their families in America. In total, there were 48 members of the Param Clan who are US Citizens. As a man of integrity, honor, and hardworking ethic, his legacy will live on as his family continues to grow in both the US and the Philippines. One of his proudest accomplishments is that all of his children served/are serving honorably in the US military. Another is that he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of building a beautiful, modern house atop the site where his family's modest dwelling once sat. Ver is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Rosenda and his siblings, Sione, Charlie and Ricardo. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Finch (daughter), her husband, Kevin, and their children, Audrey, Abigail, and Annabelle; Vincent Param (son), his wife ,Jami, and their children, Paxton and Pria; Joyceline Kiefer (daughter), her husband, Kory, and their children, Kayla, Madison, and Cole; Vernie Param (son), his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Valerie, Jayden, and Vanessa; and Ver's siblings, Ligaya, Andres, Oscar, and Abelardo.
