ROGER SCHMITT OBITUARY

Roger Richard Schmitt, 79, passed away Jan. 10, 2021 in Lake Havasu City.
Roger was born on Sept. 20, 1941 to Clifton and Imogene Schmitt in Tucson. Roger was married to the love of his life Dianne Orlie Schmitt on July 14, 1962 in Phoenix. Together, they shared more than 60 years of love and 58 years of marriage.
Roger was blessed with three children and three granddaughters. Roger and Dianne moved to Lake Havasu City in 2000. They enjoyed watching and spending time with their beautiful granddaughters. Roger also loved traveling with Dianne throughout the U.S. in their 5th Wheel RV. Some of Roger's other hobbies included building Mustang Motorcycles and welding cactus statues out of horseshoes. In his younger years, Roger was a certified divemaster and a dive instructor for LA County National Association of Underwater Instructors. Roger served for 30 years in the U. S. Navy and Navy Reserve, rising to the rank of lieutenant commander at retirement. He was particularly proud of his submarine service aboard the USS JAMES MADISON SSBN-667 and USS GROWLER SSG-577. He also had a long career at TRW Space Systems in Redondo Beach, California.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his Daughter Janet Schmitt Dunn and granddaughter Sabrina Dianne Dunn. He is survived by his wife Dianne Schmitt of Lake Havasu City, daughter Candy Schmitt of Lake Havasu City, son Jeffery and daughter-in-law Brenda Schmitt of Lake Havasu, granddaughters Noey and Skyla Schmitt of Lake Havasu City, brother Larry and Linda Schmitt of Austin, Texas and sister Kathy Terrell of Scottsdale.
Due to covid concerns no services are planned but the family plans to hold one at a future date.
