October 2, 1954 ~ December 22, 2020 (age 66)

Clyde (Chip) William Porter Jr, 66, of Colerain, died Tuesday, December 22 at Wheeling Hospital of Covid-19 pneumonia. He was born October 2, 1954 in Martins Ferry to Clyde and the late Mary E. L. (Anderson) Porter. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brian David. He was retired from AT & T and Ohio Edison. He was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School. He was a proud Navy vet and submariner. He served on several naval vessels: the USS Neosho, USS Los Alamos, and over 3 years on the USS James Madison. He was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry, where he previously served as a deacon, elder, usher and sang in the church and community choirs. Chip was known for his kindness, generosity and selflessness. He served for many years as a volunteer on the Colerain Fire Department and more recently in the USSVI Requin Base Submarine Veterans in Pittsburgh where he formerly served as Chief of the Boat/ Historian. Although he never met a stranger, family was everything to Chip and always his top priority. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Lee (Kennedy), father, Clyde W Porter, Sr. of Colerain, daughter, Patricia (Dennis) Kuhn-Morgan of Lancaster, Ohio, grandsons, Dakota Morgan of Lancaster, Ohio and Collin Morgan of Wheeling, WV, Siblings: Kathleen (James) Meeker, Sharon Lynn Porter, Jim Porter, Joel (Peg) Porter, and Molly (Michael) Rouse, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends will be received at the 1st Presbyterian Church 400 Walnut St. Martins Ferry on Monday December 28, 2020 from 11 am till time of service at 1 pm with Rev. David Stammerjohn officiating interment in Parkview Cemetery Wheeling.
