Kenneth Edward Lowe
August 3, 1946 - February 27, 2023

As the sun began to rise on Monday, February 27, we lost a great man when Kenny Lowe passed away at his home in Coles Point, Va., after his hard-fought battle with kidney cancer.

He was born Kenneth Edward Lowe in Warrenton on August 3, 1946, to W.D. and Louise (Parsons) Lowe. Kenny attended and played tackle at Cedar Lee and Fauquier High Schools, graduating in the class of 1965. Upon graduation, he chose not to accept a football scholarship to East Carolina College and joined the U.S. Navy serving in its submarine fleet aboard the nuclear sub the USS James Madison, SSBN 627. He and his previous wife, Amy Weaver McNally, had two children, Robin and Karen.

Kenny inherited his interest in and knowledge of plumbing from his father at an early age. He proudly owned and operated his business, Lowe Plumbing & Heating, for over 50 years. Kenny took great pride in his work, and preferred word-of-mouth referrals for jobs well done over any other form of advertising. It was easy to recognize him in his shiny black work truck working throughout Virginia and Maryland.

‘Back in the day,’ Kenny volunteered with the Fauquier Jaycees and worked many of the country music festivals at Whippoorwill Lake. He loved hot rods and classic vehicles, especially his black cherry ’51 Ford F-1 pickup, Delilah. While being baptized at an early age, Kenny’s ‘church of choice’ was listening to bluegrass gospel music, George Jones, Johnny Cash and Alan Jackson every Sunday morning. Kenny was a phenomenal poker player and had the knack of ‘reading’ other players at the table. He loved the laid-back lifestyle that the Northern Neck offered, and eventually relocated to Coles Point. He enjoyed bringing oysters from the “Neck” to family and friends at Thanksgiving and Christmas. If seen outside of work, he was most likely sporting his signature creased and starched Wrangler ‘dungarees’, a starched oxford or white tee shirt, and boat shoes. Every year for his birthday, he hosted a Cruise In for family, friends, and the community so gearheads and novices alike could get together and talk cars, trucks, and bikes. He loved to cook, especially his phenomenal charcoal-grilled prime rib.

Kenny was a wonderful, albeit hard-headed, husband to his wife, Wanda (Holmes) Lowe; a loving father to his daughter, Karen Brandt; a caring grandfather to grandsons Cade Brandt and Matt and John Hayes; a fantastic brother to Chuck Lowe (Marie); an intimidating father-in-law to his sons-in-law Mark Brandt and Tom Hayes; a trusted and loyal friend to those lucky enough to be allowed into his close circle; and a caring uncle, nephew and cousin to many family members.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Robin Lowe Hayes (1968-2011), and his older brother, Dean (1945-1953).

A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, March 10, 3:00pm at Moser Funeral Home, in Warrenton VA.

There will also be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, March 26, in Coles Point. Details to be finalized soon.

To honor Kenny’s requests, plant an azalea and think of him when it blooms in the spring or donate to the charity of one’s choice.
