April 28, 1941 - October 3, 2020
Russell James Duffy, Jr. Age 79 passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020. He was born in Indianapolis on April 28, 1941 to the late Goldie V. and Russell James Duffy. Russell was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years Sara Harris Duffy, sisters Mary E. Duffy Creech and Bertha Jean Duffy Spratt. He is survived by his sister Vonda Duffy O’Neill, 13 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews. He was a 1959 Honor graduate of Arsenal Technical High School where he was active in the music and art programs and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. Russell served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 – 1969. After completing Nuclear Power School he served on USS Alexander Hamilton (SSBN-617) and the USS James Madison (SSBN-627), then briefly on the USS Lapon before being Honorably Discharged on September 15, 1969. He worked at Merchants Bank and held the position of Vice President of the Currency and Cash Department until his retirement. Russ was a loving and supportive husband, brother and uncle who will be grieved and missed greatly. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2020, 11:00am at Anderson Cemetery 6501 E 10th Street, Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers contributions to the American Kidney Fund or Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network would be appreciated.
