Hotel Prices and Comparing Apples to Apples

Post by Keith Holman »

Or more precisely, comparing a refundable hotel rate with breakfast to others.

As part of the Reunion package, we've negotiated with Ramkota Rapid City to provide rooms with a king size or 2 queen beds for 2 people for $120 plus tax. This includes the breakfast buffet for two adults with the room each day. Those rooms are normally $139 plus tax per night during our week in May.

The breakfast buffet begins at 6:30 a.m and includes:

Fresh fruit, biscuits and sausage gravy, hot oatmeal, scrambled eggs, meat, pastries, and potatoes. It also includes orange juice, coffee, decaf and hot tea. (Even though its SOUTH Dakota, they won't be serving grits but you can't have everything, I guess.)

In exchange for the Madison Reunion booking a block of rooms at the discounted rate, the Ramkota includes the hospitality suite, meeting room and the banquet room at no additional charge.

If you've looked around a bit, you may have found that the Ramkota has other room rates depending on choices you make. The least expensive ones must be paid in advance, are non-refundable and do not include the breakfast buffet. If you choose to book rooms other than in the Madison Reunion block at the pre-negotiated rates, please be sure you are aware of the differences in what you are getting.
