At the National Naval Medical Center. Husband 16 years of Gina Jones.
He retired from the military in 1999 after 22 years of service. He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Texas; completed programs at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA, and received two master's degrees in 1998.
Also survived by his father, James A. Torrance; stepdaughters, Christine Witt & Julie Via; grandchildren, Madeline, Spencer, & Sienna Witt, & Sonny Via.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Deloris J. Torrance of Wilmington, NC.
Interment with full military honors followed services conducted at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel, Arlington, VA, Monday, January 26, 2009.
