Sumner Kittelle Moore, Jr.
RICHMOND, Va. - Sumner Kittelle Moore, Junior, Captain, U.S. Naval Reserve, Retired,

52, died in Richmond, Virginia on July 25, 2005, of a brain tumor. He was of a navy family going back 5 generations, including his father, CDR Sumner K. Moore, of Portsmouth and Alexandria, VA, and his uncle, Capt. Charles K. Moore, of Middletown.

He was known throughout his life as Kitt. He graduated from St. Albans School in Washington, DC, in 1970, and the University of Virginia in 1974, receiving a commission in the US Navy, Supply Corps, through the NROTC Program. He served aboard the nuclear submarine, USS James Madison, and then with the Naval Oceans Systems Command and the Naval Supply Center, both at Pearl Harbor, HI. He was awarded two Navy Achievement Medals during his active duty. He resigned from the Navy in 1981, remaining in the Naval Reserve, serving 20 years and retiring as a Captain. He returned to Virginia, earning an MBA from the Darden School, U of VA in 1983. Returning to Hawaii, he worked on the island of Maui in the sugar business, and then in the feed and grain business in Honolulu. He moved to Richmond in 1994 and worked for CCA Industries there as Real Estate Manager. He was very active in St. Albans Anglican Catholic Church in Richmond, serving as senior warden and as a member of the choir.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ann Hamilton Moore, and twin daughters, Samantha Grosvenor Moore, and Cornelia Robinson Moore; his parents, Cdr US Navy retired and Mrs. Sumner K. Moore; a sister, Ann Moore Milnor, of Charlottesville, VA and two brothers, John Pancoast Moore, of Keswick, VA, and Peter O'Bannon Moore, of Great Falls, VA.

There will be an Anglican Funeral Mass, 2 p.m., on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at St. Albans Anglican Catholic Church, 4006 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23277. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Albans Anglican Catholic Church.
