HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — Michael Joseph Conway, 69, died on Friday morning, Dec. 7, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Pownal, Vt., on Dec. 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Peter Vincent and Gladys Graves Conway. He was a lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church.

Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1988 after 30 years of service as a senior chief. He served in Vietnam and was on a submarine corps that was under the polar ice cap for nearly a year. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, two Navy Achievement medals, Sea Service Deployment medal, Three Meritorious Unit Commendations and Six Good Conduct Awards during his career.

He was a member of the American Legion, the St. Stanislaw Society, Derby Club and in his early years enjoyed bowling, basketball and was a avid football. fan. Most of all, Michael loved to entertain and cook for his family and friends. He was a true Irishman who loved his heritage.

Survivors include his loving children, Shaun Conway of Murrieta, Calif., Shelia Conway of San Diego, and Shannon (Bill) Pollock of Tacoma, Wash.; his grandchildren, Tyler Michael Peckham, Nicolas Conway, Logan and Katie Pollock; his brother, Vince " Butch" Conway; his brother-in-law, Robert (Bea) Shiland; and many loved nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Shiland and Kathleen O'Neil, and brother-in-law, James O'Neil.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main St., in Hoosick Falls and at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Hoosick Rescue Squad or the James and Kathleen O'Neil Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral hone.
