DeComm
I keep seeing references to the Madison being disposed of at Puget Sound, but I distinctly remember seeing her at Mare Island. Will someone who was there clear this up? Was she de-fueled one place and cut up in another?

The reactor compartment was delivered to Hanford during the 2000-2002 era when I was working there in the Tank Farms. Being ex Bluie I was there when she was laid to rest, alas no cerimony

I left MADISON in Sept 1992 while the decomm/defueling was well underway. The actual decomm was performed at Mare Island. My understanding is that the RC and hull was shipped elsewhere, but that was after my time.
Actually, the whole thing was a little sad, and fairly unceremoneous.
