Clifton Ray Jackson Rest Your Oars
Clifton was one of my Facebook friends. He passed away this month. We were shipmates on USS JAMES MADISON (SSBN 627) during the shipyard period in Newport News from '79 to '82. Clifton started out as a Missile Technician but shipped over to convert to Fire Control Technician (Ballistic). He was big ...

Re: Help build the Madison Sailing List and locate shipmates
I remember a M Div First Class with the name of Zelinski, or similar. Seems like he and MMC Berlyak served at about the same time on Madison.

Re: Identifying Shipmates
After going through the webpage list I remember some more crewmembers not on it. FTB2(SS) Henry Clay. Henry reported to the Madison in the shipyard, probably late '79 or early '80. He was from Paducah, KY if I remember correctly. FTB2(SS) Cliff Jackson. Cliff made patrols on the Gold Crew as an MT t...

MTCS(SS) Chester "Wayne" Brister
I mentioned in another post the passing of MTCS(SS)Chester Brister several years ago. He was good friends with MTC(SS) Mike McDaniel. Chester checked on board the Madison as an MT1(SS) while still in overhaul in Newport News, probably in 1981. Chester's obituary is still on line at: http://files.usg...

Not sure if it is me or the webpage, but when uploading photos some of the albums are not accessible. I uploaded a photo into the 1980's Gold Crew album since I could not access/find the 1980's Blue Crew album.

Re: So how many times did the Madison go aground**
Well, this is an old post but since I just registered for the site I thought I'd throw my line in the water. I remember a late underway due to a minor engine room steam leak. By the time we did get underway the sun was setting making for a more difficult navigation picture for the bridge team. Also ...
